Genetically Modified Food

Foods produced from genetically modified organisms, specially genetically modified crops. Genetically modified crops are plants, the DNA of which has been modified using genetic engineering techniques. The first genetically modified plant was produced in 1982, using an anti-biotic resistant tobacco plant. The first field trials of genetically modified plants occurred in France and USA in 1986, when tobacco plants were engineered to be resistant to vermicides. Commercial sale of genetically modified foods began in 1994.

Environmental activists, religious organisations, public interest groups etc. have all raised concerns about genetically modified foods and criticized agri-business for pursuing profit without concern for potential hazards and government failing to exercise adequate regulatory oversight. Most concerns about genetically modified food fall in three categories - environmental hazards, human health risks and economic concerns.

Environmental Hazards :

i. Harms to other organisms.
ii. Reduced effectiveness of pesticides.
iii. Genes transfer to non-target species.

Human health risks : i. Allergenicity : Many children in US and Europe have developed life threatening allergies.

Economic Concerns : Bringing a genetically modified food to market is a lengthy and costly process and of course! agro-biotech companies wish to ensure a profitable return on their investment. Major producing companies obtain most profit from the production and trade of genetically modified foods.

Today education has changed upside downbut the foundation of the teacher has not changed. The change is from chalk n board to projector and stylus.

Most of the countries are adapting digital education. Smart board,Smart phones, tabs, note books, laptops, computers and online education arecapturing the students. These audio visual aids have proved beneficial in teaching learning process.

"Education is the Most Powerful Weapon which you can use to change the World"

Education gives us knowledge of the world around us and changes it into something better. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It helps us build opinions and have points of view on things in life. People debate over the subject of whether education is the only thing that gives knowledge.

Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. Educational methods include storytelling, discussion, teaching, training, and directed research.

Education is so much important for success in life. Education is important for the personal, social and economic development of the nation. Education is important to live with happiness and prosperity.

Education empowers minds that will be able to conceive good thoughts and ideas. Education enables students to do the analysis while making life decisions. Life gives various survival challenges for humans. But education guide human to fight the with failure and get success in life.

Education is only one thing that can remove corruption, unemployment, and environmental problems. Education is not about doing degree it is about how you can live with your own feet. Education helps to become good students, parents, entrepreneurs, doctors, siblings and honest citizens. Being in contact with an educated person and having an intelligent conversation with him expands knowledge and introduces a certain creativity and joy in the mind.

Sports in Schools

As the saying in English goes, “All work and no Play makes Jack a Dull boy”. It has been forgotten that academic learning and sports education complement each other. They resemble the two sides of the same coin. If sports education is carried out accompanied with the academic curriculum, the overall personality of the student is increased to quite an extent. The qualities of the leadership, sharing, team spirit and tolerance are learnt from sports.

Sports education not only teaches the students to maintain the physical stamina, but also the habit of obedience, discipline, the determination to win, willpower, etc. The power of reasoning, mental development, vocational specialization comes from the academic education of the students. Therefore, sports education along with the academics result in the all-round development of the students.

Sports releases feel-good endorphin which elevates the mood. A good mood is conducive to performing well in other fields because there is peace of mind that allows greater concentration. Sports acts as a great outlet for frustrations of any kind.

Sports education thus should be taken up on the war footing at schools, colleges and educational institutions for the all-round development of the person which will help them immensely in their lives ahead.

Suggestion for the Proficiency/ Improvement of School Library Activities

School library is a great source of knowledge and all round development of students. A library is just like a spring which flows up water from under the ground and quenches the thirst of millions of people living within surroundings.

Similarly, a library inspires the students to quench their appetitive/ hunger of knowledge by reading books and other relevant knowledge generating material, such as magazines and current affairs leading daily newspapers to improve their all-round development and skills.

I therefore Suggest that:

  1. A school library if, having sophisticated learning environment provides students meaningful skills with information that matters to them both in the class room and in the real world.
  2. A school library also helps the students in enhancing their skills for effective participation in the school improvement process through involvement in curriculum development.
  3. In view of the above suggestions, it is recommended that the school library should be given due attention for its proficiency and improvement so that , students may get maximum benefit of the school library for their all-round development in the real world of competitions.
